Ski Club of Manchester Garden Party — Sunday 19th July 2026

Reporter: Chris Fildes

We gathered at Caro’s about 12.30pm. The weather was glorious. No gazebo this year. Caro set up an awning for shade which allowed a nice cool breeze.

There were plenty of gorgeous food contributions. Val arrived on her bike with a quiche still intact in her rucksack, Andrew’s casserole was the best yet, but Oh No! the meringues appeared again.

It was a great opportunity for catching up with friends. The usual tour of the garden ensued; The vegetable patch was lacking some tender care due to Caro’s travels. Helen the garden expert showed us how to take plant cuttings and Caro presented me with little plant called ‘Fox and Cubs’, I’ve put it in a shady place for now until it’s ready to plant out. Eventually it will creep onto my lawn with all its cubs and join the celandine and daisies, (good excuse not to mow the lawn).

We all spent a very pleasant and relaxing afternoon, chatting and enjoying the buffet. A big thankyou to Caro for hosting this traditional event and we appreciated all your preparation to make the event so enjoyable.

We hope to see more members attending next year.
