Ski Club of Manchester AGM, October 2025

Reporter: Andrew Walker (Club Secretary)

Well, that was my eleventh and last AGM as Secretary.

Almost on time, we started at 7:35 pm

After the apologies, and the acceptance of last year’s minutes, Ruth Bacci gave her Chair report. After thanking the Committee for their work during the year, as well as thanking Caro Brown for her role as Welfare Officer, she noted that the Committee had co-opted two new members during the year: Alice Bubenzer and Max Macintosh. She said we had reviewed our membership of Snowsport England and had come to the conclusion that the benefits of affiliation (mainly insurance) did not justify the cost, and so we had found more appropriate insurance elsewhere, at a much lower price. Phil Jones then reviewed his Treasurer’s report, noting the saving as a result of no longer being affiliated to Snowsport England.

After that we moved onto the election of the Committee Officers and members. The only change to the Executive was that Max Macintosh will take over from me as Secretary, but I shall remain on the Committee. There were a couple of questions but, there being no AOB, the meeting was closed at 8:18 pm (43 minutes). Approximately 43 attended, which was a roughly 50% increase on last year, possibly due to the atrocious weather.

Immediately after the AGM Fiona Ogden gave a fascinating talk about getting her BASI 1 qualification at the Snow Centre (né — or née — the Chill Factore).

After the drinks break Tony Shaw ran a quiz, generally snow-related. All in all, a good evening.

Over to you Max, for next year’s AGM.
