Paul Stephen Sharp

Paul, club member, instructor and Vice Chairman of the Committee, died on 19th November. His long-time friend Peter Jones remembers his life.

Paul’s main love was his family and he spent the majority of his time around them. Whether it was with Christine, the boys (Matthew and Ashley) or his 5 grandchildren. He loved every minute he spent with them and his death will leave a big hole in their lives.

He was a really active person who was passionate about skiing and therefore became a BASI level 2 and a Snow Sport England Level 4 Instructor. Paul enjoyed teaching at every level so his coaching courses were always well attended and thoroughly enjoyed by all.

Paul was an active member of Birch Vale & Thornsett Cricket Club which he joined 30 years ago and held various positions from Captain to coach all the way down to groundsman’s assistant. He was an avid player and won many awards whilst at the club.

He was also actively involved in Marple Rugby club. He joined them in 1975 playing for the 3rd team but quickly rose through the ranks to captain the 1st team in 1978 where he held this position for the following 4 years.

Paul was a true supporter of Bradford Bulls and using his season ticket, attended matches on a regular basis with his wife. Any free time he had in the warmer weather was spent playing golf regularly with friends.

This vibrant, funny, kind man will be sorely missed by everyone who crossed his path.
