Well, it was my first try on this instruction week and I have to admit I was a bit nervous. No need for that though, our TDC instructors made us feel very welcome.
I was in a group with three of our new members John, Dave and Ken, who I had not met before which was really great. Our coach Colin was exceptional and managed to tactfully deconstruct techniques and offer advice in several different ways to assist. We did do several different drills including skiing with eyes closed with a partner who had eyes open, which certainly gets your weight in the right place! A video was taken on the Thursday which was really useful with no let ups given on the last instruction day and more tips given. Overall the TDC instruction was fantastic for me and I recommend them highly.
Our afternoons were free so we buzzed around the mountain meeting up with others from SCOM and finding nice restaurants to eat in. Blue skies all week and good snow on piste, not so good off piste. Added bonus watching the men’s downhill on the Saturday.
Always great to get back to the hotel after skiing all day for soup, cakes and tea. The hotel was basic but adequate. The staff were very friendly and food and drink good.
Overall, a great start to the season!
