As some of you know, Mike Brett died unexpectedly on 1st June. Mike had been a member of the Ski Club of Manchester for over 30 years, and introduced me to the Ski Club, when I worked with him.
Mike was a freelance photographer by profession, and worked across the country as a sports photographer, mainly of rugby (both union and league). In 1982, he won the prize for the Best Sports Picture of the Year and a scroll of honour from The Sports Council.
As well as skiing, he thoroughly enjoyed ski fitness classes and the après ski in the bar, on occasion leading the classes when asked. His knees let him down for skiing a couple of years ago, though he was still an active club member, and regularly attended the ski club meetings and social events.
Mike was also a keen walker, and enjoyed Tai Chi and his garden.
He was a sociable and caring man with a wry sense of humour, who will be missed by many friends in the ski club.
Our thoughts are with family, including sisters Lyn and Fran, at this sad time.
