A good sized group of 10, plus Dolly the dog, met as planned beside Martindale Church, all raring to go on what looked to be a promising day for weather.
We followed the route as advertised which rewarded us with scenic walking and a couple of strenuous ascents to test our legs.
From the tops of Sleet and Hallin Fells we had fine views over Ullswater to the north and a wide panorama beyond. In between was easy walking with a pleasant lunch stop on a grassy bank overlooking the lake. The time of year meant that the fields were full of lambs making the scene ever more picturesque.
A perfect walk in a perfect landscape and not a drop of rain.
Thanks to Ian Harford for the usual faultless organisation.
