It had been in our minds, ever since the glowing report by Trudy and John Lymer, to visit the Monterosa Ski area.
We were not disappointed. Good snow on the pistes-a lot of snow making and good maintenance - but very limited cover off-piste during our stay.
Excellent travel and cruising on the predominantly red+blue network; varied runs and delightful mountain scenery.Champoluc is a pleasant large village not yet afflicted by unsympathetic building.
Our hotel, the De Champoluc, a good Italian 3 star job; friendly and well run in every department. Moreover it is next door to the piste and the gondola that takes you uphill.
We are returning sometime to enjoy this marvellous area with it's outstanding scenery and the excellent skiing which links over to Gressoney and Alagna. Little for beginners and limited hard black runs but an intermediate's paradise.
