Christmas Dinner - Friday 3rd December
By Val Smith
Why is it that so many eating establishments fail to deliver at this time of year? One is often presented with poor quality food and unsatisfactory service. Not so at Deckers. I was a little wary initially when I discovered that we had been relegated to BLO Decks. What happened last year, I wondered? Why are we classed as Steerage?
On arrival all my fears were dispelled once I saw the winter marquee with several round tables seating eight, rather different and very cosy. After a drink (or two) at the bar, we took our seats and as usual there were introductions so that everyone knew with whom they were dining.
It appeared to me that everyone was more than satisfied with the quality and quantity of food, especially those who had chosen the rack of lamb. The service was efficient yet unobtrusive.
Although the resident DJ played a good selection of music he looked rather lonely until a handful of people ventured onto the dance floor. Good music to dance to, but a little too loud for those who preferred to converse.
All in all an excellent night and hopefully next year we can look forward to being treated as steerage once again! Many thanks to Trudy for organising another successful social event.
