After the success of the Treasure Hunt in September around Hurst Green, near Clitheroe, Lancashire, several members requested that Kath and Simon plan a combined walk and bike ride for us in the same beautiful countryside. They kindly agreed and on the 7th October a small group of walkers and bikers once again gathered at the Bayley Arms.
Both groups set off on slightly different routes, but we "crossed paths" on occasions and met up for lunch together on top of Longridge Fell overlooking a fantastic view across to the Trough of Bowland. Although boggy underfoot in parts (you should have seen the bikers!) the weather was good and we all had a brilliant day.
As this was an impromtu rather than a planned club event, advertising was limited in the time available therefore numbers for both groups were lower than usual. However, we are sure there will be more walks and bike rides in that area in the future. The scenery, let alone the exercise, is well worth the effort.
Thanks to Kath and Simon and we are hoping that this is the first of many regular events in that part of Lancashire.
