Meet at Clarke Lane Grid Ref: SJ 927 765 near the bridge over Middlewood Way. There is parking on the north side of Clarke Lane near the meeting point and for about 150m to the east as far as Spiral Bridge. Meeting time is 10:00am for a 10:15am start.

We’ll head along the canal towards Clough Bank, take a short walk through Tinkers Clough, cross the canal, and continue over the fields towards Hollin Hall Hotel on Jackson’s Lane.

There will be an option for a tea or coffee break at the hotel, particularly if the weather is wet.

From there, we’ll head towards Ingersley Vale, across the fields and up into Rainow.

We may have a short stop at the Robin Hood if it’s open; otherwise, we’ll continue along Smithy Lane towards Oakendon Lane, passing a quaint farm that sells eggs (£2 for half a dozen).

We’ll then cross more fields and head down to a small brook with a Time wheel, where we’ll stop for lunch.

After lunch, we’ll make our way back towards Savio House, (white Nancy in our line of site) then on to Wolfington Farm, carry on to Clarence Mill.

There will be the option of another tea break at Clarence Mill, or we can continue directly back to Clarke Lane for a well-deserved drink at the Lord Clyde.

The walk is relatively easy and is roughly 8 miles in total.
