Walk 1 altenative, Saturday 9th May.
Leader: Elizabeth Moore
Starting at the Boot Inn, the walk goes anti-clockwise, heading east then north up past Eel Tarn and on to Burnmoor Tarn. The route then turns south-west over Eskdale Moor and Boat Howe, passing the Burnmoor stone circles. After Blea Tarn there's a steep downhill to Beckfoot, and then back to Boot along the valley.
7.7 miles / 12.3 km with 870 ft / 265 m of ascent; about four to five hours' walking plus breaks.
Meeting time is 10:00 to start walking at 10:15
The route starts from the The Boot Inn, grid reference NY1762701039, what3words: unlocking.lays.lies. There is parking at the Boot Inn, or paid parking at Dalegarth station just down the road.
You'll need to bring a packed lunch, snacks and drinks sufficient for the day. The ground is likely to be rough and probably wet, so be prepared. Both are solid walks but hopefully less strenuous than Dave's walks, and there are possibilities for shortening the routes if necessary.
If you intend to join the walk please advise Elizabeth Moore by Friday 1st May by email.
