Ski Club of Manchester, Autumn Walks 2026

Walk 1, Monday 7th September.

Leader: Dave Miller

The walk will be in the area to the North of Chipping, Lancashire. The route is a moderate walk of about 14.5Km (9 miles) with around 550m (1800ft) of climbing and should take around 6 or 7 hours depending how long we spend sight seeing, eating, and of course walking. Don't forget to bring suitable clothing to cater for the vagaries of English Autumn weather.

The walk will start at the car park next to Chipping Village Hall, Garstang Rd, Chipping, Preston PR3 2QH. Note that there are parking charges, payments can be made with cash, card, or via phone and it's £3.30 for 8 hours (all day). There are public toilets at the car park and there may be opportunities for refreshments after the walk depending what time we get back.

Meeting time is 10:00 to start walking at 10:15.

The circular walk is from Chipping Village Centre up onto Fair Snape Fell and Parlick and will take in moorland paths and and quiet lanes. The moorland paths are rough going in places and could be soggy following wet weather so stout walking shoes or boots are advised.

This will be a full day walk with no facilities en route so please bring whatever food and drink you require.

Please note that part of the walk will be over access land and on this section dogs must be kept on a leash.
