John died on the 25th February 2021 aged 82.
A vocal member always ready to hold forth with an opinion on any subject under discussion at the après ski dining table & bar.
A lecturer in computer sciences at Manchester University, he was also a fanatical touring cyclist, most summers he did huge pan European bike tours to far flung places like Bulgaria, Greece and Poland, until a heart condition restricted but did not stop his pedal powered adventures.
He also enjoyed sampling local beers; in moderation it must be stressed. British folk & traditional music were another passion, as was horology. He serviced and refurbished clocks of all sizes, from carriage clocks to grandfather clocks, on a semi-professional basis.
