Ski Club Christmas Meal at The Boathouse Restaurant November 29th 2018

Reporter: Chris Fildes

At 7.30pm on Thursday 29th November, 38 SCoM members met at the Boathouse Restaurant by Sale Water Park for our annual Christmas meal.

While we gathered around the bar area waiting to be seated. We noticed that Carolyn and Colin were absent, (their new grandchild had arrived just three hours earlier)! Bill Matthews looked well considering his recent major Op. (Although he won’t be seen on the slopes this season)! It was nice to see Brian Shelmerdine and especially good to welcome new members; Magda & Mike Fairclough, Ronan & Debbie O’Driscol, Malcolm & Anite Naylor, hope to see you at the next SCoM dining event!

We were saddened about the the death of Paul Sharp. It came as a shock to us all, and he will be greatly missed.

Eventually our thoughts turned to the forthcoming holidays. The reserve list is diminishing, but those on the waiting list will have to bear with us. I believe some members might possibly arrange to meet up with us in the resort.

As in previous years, the meal was excellent, well presented and the staff attentive, which contributed to a successful evening. When asked, most members preferred a Thursday evening for this event, and because The Boathouse is convenient for most, we are considering a return for next year’s meal. Meanwhile, I’m looking forwards to the next dining event, the Raclette meal in January!

Many thanks to Caroline for her hard work organising this event for us again. It was much appreciated by us all!
