Summer Garden Party, Sunday July 9th 2017

Reporter: Chris Fildes

On a scorching afternoon in July, 36 of us gathered at Alan and Caroline’s for the Summer Garden Party. (and it wasn’t just the Brown’s famous sausages that were done to a turn) as most of us were seeking shade!

Also present this year were members of ‘Backbeat A Cappella choir’ (a recently formed women's choir that sings a range of modern & traditional songs in a 4-part close harmony). I regret not encouraging them to entertain us!

It was good to see everyone mingling, and enjoying themselves.

On offer was a delightful selection of hot and cold goodies. Caroline had been especially busy in the kitchen this year, and nothing was overlooked, (the salmon was delicious)!!

As were member’s food contributions which included a selection of delectable puddings. What a spread, I admit to being stuffed to the limit!

The garden was looking impressive, and not a blade of grass out of place on the lawn! I’m certainly inspired to get to grips with my garden.

Thanks so much Alan & Caroline for organising this event for us again, a great way to relax on a summer afternoon!
