Reporter: Carolyn Campbell
Hosts: Alan and Caro Brown at their home in Tytherington—a most excellent venue for such an event, (when we eventually found it! Someone’s phone battery ran out rendering sat nav useless!).
We arrived to the wonderful aroma of barbequing sausages - Tesco’s best, I am told. I should know—I had six!
We were so lucky with the weather after such a variable week. It was bright and warm with only the faintest hint of the odd spot of rain. This allowed us to get out looking at the very attractive garden and some of us came away with renewed inspiration and ideas for our own pads. The alpine garden specially deserves a mention.
Caroline had provided a delicious cold buffet with contributions from club members (they say the cheesecake was brill!). It was good to enjoy this lovely food and catch up with club members that we hadn’t seen for a while. Conversation was lively and no one came to blows over Brexit!).
Just as we were taking our leave (and some of us having difficulty over that!) the heavens opened, encouraging us to our cars!
It is lovely to have such events to allow club members to get together outside the ski season. This is good for the club and it is fun!
Thanks to Alan and Caroline for hosting this party. This was the first time we had attended the BBQ and we certainly look forwards to it next year.
