Wilf Riley

It is with great sadness that I have to advise that one of our members, Wilf Riley, has passed away.

Our condolences go to Joan and the rest of Wilf’s family at this sad time.

I remember Wilf was such a jovial chap who really enjoyed his skiing, whether at the Chill Factore or on a SCoM holiday.

Wilf was always happy to help the club as well, and spent some time at the Chill Factore with myself and John helping us promote the Club.

Wilf, Born and bred in Bolton, as was his wife Joan, was a real family man with a son, daughter, and a granddaughter.

Always an active person, he started skiing 25 years ago when his son Chris went on a school Ski Trip. Joan and he had lessons at Rossendale before joining a group for regular holidays abroad.

Wilf was a qualified scuba diver, a competent sailor, and had recently been instructing his granddaughter in windsurfing and canoeing, and he had also started kite boarding. The knowledge and experiences from these activities coupled with an endless supply of amusing stories, many of which came from his time as a publican, made him great company.

He will be sorely missed.
