Fly On The Wall - 24th April 2013
Reporter: Vanessa Miller
Hello again from your committee.
Well for most of us it's the end of the season and Sking for this year unless you are lucky enough to be going on the TDC week in Dec 2013. Get booking this up if you have been meaning to.
The meeting kicked off promptly at Andrew's house after a quick wave to Tom who's house backs onto Andrew's. As usual we had a lot to get through with an initial look back at the last meetings minutes and a discussion about the next newsletter which you will have seen by the time you read this.
After this Ian discussed his chairmans report and we touched on some new Snowsport England child protection guidelines which we all agreed should be looked at by our legal guru Barry and then be re discussed. Ian has also had some correspondance with individuals who have a time share appartment in Tigne, initially SCOM thinks they would not wish to pursue anything to do with this and we are waiting for more information. Go board Go Ski is also still outstanding regarding beginner courses which Ian is discussing with Jan Doyle.
Janet then provided us with up to date information about our club funds and expenditure which at the moment with estimates for income is looking ok.
It was then time for Alan's secretaries report and we discussed Newsflash/Yahoo postings. Now Yahoo has been changed to auto respond to individual rather than all this has cut down emails. We decided no further action required to amend at this stage but we will continue to monitor. With a view to attracting new members we discussed the website and whether we required a quick ref section. Andrew is going to write a few lines for possible inclusion.
Now that the club have come into the new century and set up Facebook via Tosh and Tony, this seems to be taking off. We discussed how we might maximise its potential to attract new members and existing members and decided that we needed to speak to the experts. So Tosh and Tony you will be approached about this don't run away!
We touched on the summer events which are ongoing and don't need to be specifically mentioned again as they are in the newsletter.
Finally we discussed take up of 2014 holidays which is going well.
The committee would also like to wish Frances well and a speedy recovery from her knee injury which happened on the Meribel trip.
