Fly On The Wall - August Committee Meeting

Reporter: Steve Wardle

The August meeting was brief but necessary to confirm who would be standing for reelection at the forthcoming AGM in October.

After having served on it since 1972 Jane Fairclough has decided to leave the committee. Jane has put a great deal of time and effort into arranging Club activities over that period for which we're most grateful.

Ian Harford reported that Snow Sport England have a new initiative, offering a subsidised course of 6 weekly lessons at the Chill Factore for groups from the same workplace. The indicative cost was £5 per session (including slope fee and tuition) so look out for a Newsflash and Yahoo! announcement if this goes ahead.

Thoughts of running an dedicated off-piste holiday have been put on hold for now but will be reviewed for next season.

Christmas meal arrangements were discussed and Rhubarb in Didsbury is the likely venue.

Free coaching at the Chill Factore resumes in October and we'll have three instructors for two hours on Thursday mornings, one instructor for two hours on Wednesday evenings. According to John the moguls courses there have been a success whereas the "Avalanche" hasn't so hopefully it will soon disappear.

Finally, I'm afraid there is no news yet re ski fit this season. A "boot camp" runs on Wednesday evenings at the Chill Factore and joining in with this is one possibility.
