Friday 3rd March the club met to see Clive Grainger of Ellis Brighams give an interesting talk, accompanied by a late 1970's video on the history of K2 - the American ski manufacturing company.
Clive first started ski-ing on a school trip to Wangs Pizol in Switzerland in 1969, and has loved it ever since. He has been working in the ski-industry full time for many years, and his knowledge is obvious.
After his enjoyable talk, and the video featuring such ski greats as Jean Claude Killy and Wayne Wong, he opened the floor to general questions, and many members took the opportunity to pose questions as to what skis to buy, what the next "must have" will be and why shaped skis are so good for all over the mountain and not just on a carving piste.
In fact, the talk was so interesting, that we have already asked him back for next season, when we hope he will do a session on boot fitting.
Don't forget the ski test that Clive is arranging at Rossendale on Friday 13th October 2000.
